My son has tracheomalacia, where his cartilage in his throat/ trachea isn't formed all the way, which makes it really floppy and he can let oxygen in really good, it's just letting the CO2 out is the difficult part, because he traps them inside his body, (why he's on a breathing tube, for pressure to let out that CO2).. Considering he was 9 weeks early. Well, I got some bad news from my sons NICU Doctor yesterday. His doctor, came up to me and started explaining how he was doing, and said his trachea keeps collapsing and he isn't really showing any improvement. She said, if nothing improves, by the time he is 37 weeks ( he is 34 weeks right now), they will have to do a tracheostomy, and put a Gtube in, and he will have to go home on a ventilator... And if they do have to go that route, he could be on it for a good year to two years... Ive never been so scared in my life. I want the best for my baby, I do. But I pray a miracle happens the next 3 weeks where he won't have to go that route.... He's only 2 weeks and 4 days and has already been through so much.
