Can any of you mamas with a cat (who is like your baby) share your experience when you had a baby? My husband and I have had our cat for almost 2 years. She's the best! Non-aggressive but can get super playful and hyper. Otherwise super docile. We live in a room with a bathroom and she sleeps with us every night, eats in here too, but goes outside and around the house a lot. I'm just curious to see how she'll react to us having our baby. I get annoyed with people telling me I'll hate her after having my baby - I love her so much! I know we can all learn to coexist.😇🙏🏼
I had a cat just like that, and he never gave me any trouble & never got in baby's face either. :)
@ashsloan, that's what I was thinking. She isn't bothered by my nephew who is 16 mos, even when he is kinda rough with her. She also doesn't ever wanna cuddle up close with our faces or chests. She likes to be by our feet most of the time.
I have 2 cats and my son is 6 weeks old, and we have had zero problems with the cats. they really avoid the baby, cause he makes weird noises lol. they are just now willing to come close to me when I'm holding him, and we just shut the door to the nursery when we lay my son down to sleep. I trust my cats, but they like to lay on top of warm things, and I just don't want to worry about that, so I just shut the door. people got on my last nerve when I was pregnant, they assumed we would either throw the cats outside permanently, or just get rid of them. I do NOT allow my cats outside, and why would I ever get rid of my first 2 babies, just because I am having my own baby? no way!! I've heard of some cats being territorial, like spraying and stuff, but for the most part I haven't heard any bad things when the cat is already well behaved.
