I watch a 6 month old girl quite often. Her mom hardly ever has her, she just passes her from person to person. This kid probably thinks I'm her mom by now. She always gets dropped of in week old or too small clothes, covered in dirt and stinking so bad. I have to give her a bath within the first hr of getting her and never know when I will be giving her back. She is constantly sick, fever, can't breathe, eyes are all clogged, ear wax just dripping out of her ears. I wanna do something but I'm not old enough to foster or anything unless her mother signs rights to me. I don't wanna call dcs because the foster families here are horrible. I'm so damn pissed that someone could let their child sleep in a laundry basket with bugs crawling on them and tell them they are gonna throw them away just because they cry.

Ugh you need to call DCF no matter what. That child's welfare is in your hands and as someone who watches the child on a regular basis, you're a mandated reporter

foster homes here are filthy and most of the people in our area are only in it for the money. I'm tempted to talk her mom into giving me custody. it would be a little difficult at first with a newborn but it's better than her being neglected or used for a paycheck. @rainbow0601

I grew up in some of the country's worst foster homes in Pennsylvania. What I went through wasn't nearly as bad as my 4 years of life with my biological "mom". You can express your concerns to DCF and talk to them about guardianship but you have to call it in

how old do you need to be to foster? your over 18 that should be considered an adult? I'm not sure about the rules there but I mean you're going to be a mom to your own child soon you would be considered one then I believe and I think you could volunteer to foster. you still need to call though. not all foster homes are bad and that child needs to be out of that situation before the unthinkable happens.

Call CPS on her. You can even talk to them about becoming her foster parent and they'll help you. My mom did the same thing to a lady that was a regular at her work, and now she's a foster mom to a beautiful 8 year old girl

ky laws say I have to be 21 to foster or adopt. Unless the parent signs rights over, I'm not able to take her. it may be different if the state deems me fit to take her tho @jwest267 @lucieelledge

@lucieelledge, I just worry because my bf does have a bad past and they do background checks. he isn't harmful to anyone but a record is still a record :(
