what exactly does a membrane strip do? and do you always get it? when does the doctor do this

my doctor won't do it till you're over 39 weeks. they seperate your membrane from the uterus and it's supposed to help with starting labor

it's not necessary, mine is doing it at 37 (medical reasons) and she explained what it does:)

usually no earlier than 38 weeks.. some do at 37... never worked with any of my stubborn ass kids . lol
