This is the first time I'm doing it, but I am by passing the bassinet and he's going straight for the crib. :) they are a waste cause the baby grows out of them quickly! I also just fell like it seems safer than a bassinet. But what I did get was a pack and play, that has EVERYTHING! Until he's old enough it has a diaper changer and a napper (bassinet like) built in to it, then once he grows out of it, I can remove all that and he has a normal pack an play, so worth it! :)

its all about personal preference. personally i like having my child near me for the first few months so he will sleep next to me in basinet till he is about 4 or 5 months

@amonakiej, my son slept in his crib from the day we came home from the hospital. I never owned a bassinet.
