My doctor told me that they should have me do the glucose test twice because of my health history…

well typically if you fail the one hour test you have to go back and take the 3 hour test

they wanted me to do one at 12 weeks and then again at the normal time because of my weight. no other reasoning so I told them no. I took it once and that was it. Completely normal results.

@michelle2220, yeah, I'm hoping and figuring that that's what she was saying because that's the only reason I've heard of people having it done twice, but the way she said it made it sound like I was going to have to do the 1 hour test twice because of my weight and family history and stuff and if I failed both of those or one of them then I'd have to do the 3 hour. I'm just gonna keep watching what I eat and getting in a little exercise here and there and whatnot and just keep my fingers crossed that I pass the first one and won't have to worry about it ever again until my next baby (God-willing) years from now lol

@tiffrae, same here, but none of my doctors ever brought it up earlier than today, she was ready to send me to get it done now and then again in a few more weeks but she asked do I promise to watch what I'm eating and my weight and told me she'll only make me do it once in the next few weeks as long as I promise to do those things

well with GD you can't prevent it bc it has to do with the placenta not you in general. weight doesn't have anything to do with it. the only reason why I have to take it again at 28 weeks is bc my first one was borderline and they just wanna make sure. if not handled correctly GD can cause harm to baby. but the positive is they're usually born two weeks early
