Stop with the hydrocortisone, that's probably irritating it worse. I would keep baby naked as often as possible, and when you apply the butt cream apply a layer of vasoline over it so that locks the moisture out. If it doesn't get better in a couple days I would recommend taking her in to the pediatrician to see if it's a yeast infection. If it is she'll need a prescription called nystatin.

Take her to the doctor, that's really extreme for her spending one night away. what kind of diapers are you using?? my daughter used to do that a lot when she wore huggies then I finally figured out it must be the damn diapers reacting to her pee and poop. now I use pampers swaddlers and now no more problems

@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, I will definitely try, she scratches when she has no diaper on though so I've been iffy about letting her be naked.

@vella89, she was actually away from me for 4 days when I was in the hospital but she was with her dad. She didn't have a bad diaper rash when I last saw her and I told her dad to make sure he was putting desitin on it but then she went away from him for 2 of those 4days and I'm assuming that's when it got worse he left the desitin at home and didn't know til the day we got her back. I doubt it's the diapers though cause we have been using huggies since she was born and she's 16 months. We shouldn't be all of a sudden running into an issue.

I used them since my daughter was born too @nyandzysmommy she would get red if her diaper wasn't changed immediately and still got rashes for simple things babies shouldn't. she's 17 months old now
