I'm starting to have a really hard time with breastfeeding even though I've been doing it for 6 weeks now. I have to use a shield still cause I have flat nipples and he is a lazy sucker. I mostly exclusively pump because he wasn't gaining weight because he wasn't getting enough. I latch him in the morning and night to keep my supply. I still feel my supply slipping but I've been trying many things so it's frustrating. But most of all, I feel like it is making me miserable. 😕

Breastfeeding can be so overwhelming... I still find myself worrying if Josiah is getting enough & gaining enough weight 😓 have you met with an LC?

It really is. It is draining and I feel like it's my entire day. I felt like all day I was non stop feeding and he was still always hungry so I started pumping and bottle feeding him and he's been so much happier and less hungry and actually gaining weight. I just feel myself not pumping like I should and doing everything I can and I don't know why. 😐 I want to give him my milk because it's better but I did earlier on but haven't since. @mrssanderson

I know what you mean, Josiah recently started staying up for 4-5 hour stretches & all he wants to do is eat. He'll fuss at my breast & I keep thinking he's getting frustrated because I'm not producing enough but people keep telling me it's normal & that he's just trying to increase my supply... It's so hard to tell if everything is as it should be though. Have you tried maybe getting him to latch a couple extra times during the day & see if your supply increases? I also heard pumping for 20 min, 10 min break, pump 10 min, 10 min break can help too. Hope it gets easier for you 💙

He just won't eat enough, he even falls asleep constantly. It's an hour extravaganza so bottles are also easier for that reason. And I do power pump I just keep losing my motivation and it's making me feel like a bad mom. My supply allowed me to pump 3-4 ounces a boob every 2-3 hours so I had a ton of milk stock in fridge and freezer but I now all of a sudden can't keep up and it's so overwhelming. I've been trying to breast feed more since he's getting older but it's not what I wish it was. Ugh and these damn hormones. 🙁 and thank you, I'm trying to hold on but it's so hard. @mrssanderson

I had flat nipples too. my babe is 2 months old now and they're not flat anymore. eventually breastfeeding can separate the tissue that makes them flat. it took a while and was definitely one of the reasons I had sore nipples but it's so much better now. I went and saw the LC at my hospital when Elliott was three weeks old and she gave me nipple cones to wear for a week which help draw out your nipples (and they catch any leaked milk so that's a plus :)) I say ditch the nipple shield and try the cones for a bit, they really helped! just don't wear them at night while you sleep you'll regret it 😂

Really??? I'll have to try because the shields are so annoying to have to make sure I have one or it's clean. He also always rips it off. Last time I saw the LC she gave me the shields and I've been trying to get him to without but he just can't seem to get it, he tries so hard too. Thank you! @taylorrleee1

I never had to use the shields so I don't know much about them but I think you might have to wean him, but the cones might help with that! Let me know how it goes! :)
