My husband's family is the same way... from Mexico but he was born in US. He considers himself hispanic with Mexican heritage. I've just never heard anyone say they are American but Mexican, too. I was adopted and dont know my heritage so I am a proud American because that is where I was born and raised. but there's a difference between nationality and heritage.

@misholi87, even though I was born in the us I still consider myself Mexican and I'm proud of it I wasn't born in Mexico but my family comes from there yes I am American but my blood and heritage is from mexico

not to start an argument or anything but once you're a legal American, you are no longer Mexican but you are American and hispanic. embrace your heritage but also your new home 😊
