thats still the babys daddy, take it from me. My parents weren't together as much as I wanted to be like my mom, he is my dad and that's how it should've been I would've been pissed at her as I it older if it had been different when the kid gets off age let he or she choose to change it

Yeah idk one of my friends said she wished she had given all her kids her last name till she gets married... cause when you go in for dr.s apts and school stuff people give you a hard time... idk I still got a while to think about it... but I see where your coming from thank you for your input :) @hermommy

I had my mom's last name since she gave birth to me at 15 but it gave me a lot of problems growing up always having to proof my dad was my dad lol now I have my husband's last name and our son is will for sure have it as well

My husband never met his father he has his last name and is very happy his mom did that

If you think he may not be in the child's life, I say make it your last name. My step dad was always in my life so I'd be pissed if I had my bio dads name.

I hyphenated my daughters. with this one I'm using my last name bc dad isn't involved even if he was I'd still use my last name

with her dad yeah he gets mad bc I don't hyphenate it ever. at the hospital they just use my last name and it made him mad and I'm like well if you'd be a freaking father and be in her life then maybe I'd use your damn name. I regret it and wish I would've just used mine but at least she can go by mine bc it's the first name

I don't personally have to deal with it but if I was having a baby and not married, I would do my last name. Because if you and the father don't work out, that baby will be with you regardless. So make it your last name. If yall stay together and end up married, great! Change the baby's last name when you go to change yours. Until then, I would just do the mother's last name.

If he's there for the baby, I would say yes. If you think he's not going to be there I would say yours, if he's going to be a dead best he down at deserve to have his name carried on by your child.

well I mean he has 3 boys already and he's not around for them, cause momma's took off with the kids. but I just don't see him stepping up for this one... idk we will see I suppose
