My OHs little sisters birthday is in July and his family keep saying about how they there going to give Roman a taste of icing and butter icing etc even though I have told them time and time again I don't want him having anything like that until he's at least 1 if not old enough (each to their own I know give your children what you want to it doesn't bother me lol) I can't tell if they are joking or not and I will be there to make sure but it's really getting annoying now. I know it's silly to be annoyed but he's my baby and I decide what gets put into his body, I don't want him to have sweet sugary things for a while yet. I've not King started weaning him, plus he'll not long be 6 months when the party is.

@tamz87, it's so annoying I try to laugh it off and joke back but I'm being serious. It's starting to get so irritating now. They also keep saying they are going to sneak some to him when I'm not around or not looking etc. I don't want to be one of these who don't let in law family be alone with baby but I also really really don't want him to have that crap so young x

@jenfer, people feel like they can spoil your child when they have them but when they at home with you to follow rules. 🙄 honestly don't understand it. When the child reacts to something he's been fed they not there at night

@janegail, this is is. Just before I started weaning him they gave him a taste of gravy from our roast while I was out of the room and it completely affected him! He was up all night with what I can only guess was stomach ache every 40 minutes he would wake and scream. Not cry like normal, he would scream :(

@jenfer, 😒goodness. People used to try that with my daughter I set the rules either follow them or stay away. Simple. Where I'm from the older generation believe that when the baby is teething you rub their gums with alcohol I didn't agree with that. So stopped them seeing her as cruel as it is.

@janegail i had a dickhead member of my sons dads family who at 8 weeks old was rubbin whiskey on his gums!!! was livid! 👎👊😠 x

Have you tried speaking to your other half about it as it really ain't fair on you or your baby, you're the mum you decide, even if for example you don't want him to have sugary stuff until he's 5, it's your rules your baby they should respect that, they ain't the ones who gonna be up all night with the baby while he's being sick and in pain facing consequences for someone's selfish and foolish actions xx

I would be the exact same as you!! I'm so worried about when Lewis starts weaning cos I know there will be some family members that will want to fill him with chocolate and other sweet things! one family member even has a 2 year old that drinks fizzy juice and the thought of that stresses me out(the effect on teeth😩)!! gonna need to set down some ground rules as I only want him to have savoury things to begin with, just hope people listen to me😞🤔 xx
