I tried a long time to get pregnant, over 3 years to be exact. An once I changed jobs to make more money, an lost my health coverage and benefits I get pregnant. I'm blessed beyond all belief but now I'm not qualified to get maternity leave. I'm 3 months shy from getting maternity leave pay. I was curious to if there was any way or anything I can sign up for to get more time off paid with my child?

you should have fmla you won't get paid but you won't loose your job either

I won't lose my job. They've invested too much time and money into me. I just know if I get paid I can take off longer. I want 6weeks or more. Might have to settle with 4 weeks. @snakemom

Yeah I'm lucky in that sense. I work the family business so I have been able to take it easy when needed. I also have started beachbody coaching that I'll get active with after my son gets here.

@snakemom, FML isn't always guaranteed. At most jobs you have to be employed for at least a year to qualify. @mischell You can look into short term disability.

Thank you, I'll try that. I know I take off work as long as I want. I just can't afford a newborn and my bills if I'm not working. So I can't afford to be off too long. If I got money for being off I could take at least 6 weeks and work on breast feeding and adjusting to a new baby. @m173

Here in KY if you haven't had a short term disability policy 10 months before giving birth it won't pay you and you can't get unemployment 😔 I was lucky to have a short term policy for a few years so I got a portion of my income but I took the rest of my time unpaid
