I love my midwife. She is overseen by a doctor. They actually go through more schooling then an OB. She basically guides me along and monitors the pregnancy. She isn't as invasive as my last OB. She guides me along to make sure I am happy and healthy. My mid wife is more like a friend then a doctor! I looooove her.
Generally it's a woman trained in prenatal care and delivering babies. They aren't physicians (and can't do c-section); a lot of women like them b/c they go more natural routes.
