@kati_smith, I'll let you know. Haven't got that far yet! From a quick read over them it appears to be as effective as medication/pharmacological interventions 👍🏼

@kate_smith, so I have read all of my 10 articles and analysed them. From what I can see group CBT sessions are not always effective because they are not run for long enough, difficulties with childcare during the sessions and many women don't drive and can't be bothered with public transport with babies. However, those that did attend the sessions found the social engagement, sharing problems, meeting alike mothers very supportive. 1:1 CBT appears to be more helpful as it is more individualised and suited to the mothers needs. Also telephone CBT appears to be very good for mild depression as it it is flexible, the mothers could access it in their own homes, it was provided for a longer period of time (probably because it's cheaper) and the homework element of the CBT could be completed at home In their own time. However, telephone CBT is bit used in the uk so this will be one of my recommendations for further research.

@kate_smith, also CBT wasn't effective for mothers with very pre term babies or still borns. This is probably due to the level of depression being more servers. Also, mothers with premature babies have to commis a lot of time to seeing their babies in neonatal wards and are less likely to attend sessions. I think it's normal to be depressed in these situations anyway. We should force treatment on something that is a normal reaction in my opinion unless the mother is at risk of harm to herself or others. X
