I live in Cincinnati and it's driving me crazy seeing all these posts about harambe! As a mother of a very crazy, unpredictable, fearless toddler, I can definitely understand how your child can get away from you quickly. Hell, I lose Emma in the house almost every day! (Obviously my house is baby proof and I find her immediately, she just likes hide n seek) but what I don't understand is when your child says several times they are going into the gorilla pit before they actually do so, why you wouldn't stop taking a picture and put your phone down and either have a talk with your child about why that isn't a good idea and that it's dangerous or remove your child from the situation and move on to the next exhibit. When your child is saying something like that and you neglect them long enough to devise a plan and execute that plan, it is 100% your fault for what happens. I was just at the zoo a week or two ago. It would take a three year old a decent amount of time to figure out how to sneak away and accomplish this. I agree with the zoos decision to save the child's life, it's just a tragic situation.

How do you know what she said to him? Kids wander, it doesn't take them long to go out and explore. People really should just look at the facts. Do people blame parents whose children are abducted or assaulted? Ugh. This gorilla thing is ridiculous. People care more about an embryo and a gorilla than they do a live human being.

My son is 3 and he might try to wander a little but I always ALWAYS know where he is and what he is doing every second when we are in public. I have a 6 month old baby as well who can be very distracting but that is not an excuse. I still always have an eye on him. No way could he have gotten away from me for any amount of time. I am FAR from perfect, so I am not judging but I know that wouldn't happen to my child

@jesjeslovesyou, I've read many articles and watched many news reports, read statements from witnesses and everything. They all state she said "no you're not" and he continued to say he was going to. If I was that mother, I would have removed him from the situation altogether If he was continuing to go on about it. I agree with the decision made to kill the gorilla because, even if he was trying to protect the child, he's at least 4x the size. He could have easily killed him intentionally or unintentionally at any moment. When they called for him and he refused to retreat, they did what was necessary. I just think it could have been completely prevented if the mother would have stopped taking pictures and taken her son away from the exhibit when he continuously talked about going in with the gorillas

@mommy_faith, exactly! When were out, I constantly have my child in view or holding my hand. I don't have other kids, but I used to baby sit 5 kids at the same time and was able to manage that without losing site of any of them and we went to parks, swim clubs and other places pretty frequently. I understand it feta overwhelming sometimes, but she was taking pictures on her cell phone when it happened knowing her child was talking about going into the pit.

Articles and news reports don't mean anything. Lol, if we listened to everything someone else says life would be very difficult. I just think that people are focusing wayyy too much on the what ifs. It doesn't matter what she should have done. What's done was done. It was a mistake on BOTH ends. The zoo should have had a better barrier because, hello, there's people and animals together. Anything could happen and it could have happened to anyone. They were just that 0.0000001 percent. It's funny how so many people can get killed by pigs senselessly (cops) and people laugh but when a gorilla is killed for the safety of a baby the world goes insane.. Many people that are upset are the same ones shoving meat down their throats lol. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Everyone says "yeah it wouldn't happen to my child!" Until it happens to their child. Or until something worse happens. Kids get kidnapped at parks, schools, churches, hell even in their homes. Some are raped and molested. Some go swimming and drown. Some wander and get lost. There are tons of possibilities. I'm hurt for that mom who has the whole world judging and blaming her for this gorilla Being killed. All of these perfect parents and perfect people with their perfect opinions who don't blink twice at those who kill for game.

@jesjeslovesyou, no one is perfect and accidents happen. I understand that and I'm not saying they don't. But when your child is talking about doing something potentially dangerous, it's not something you should take lightly. If it were my child, I would have talked to her as soon as she said it and if she said it again, we would leave the area and move on. I know there are crazy people in this world that do bad things, but none of that comes into play in this particular situation. No one picked him up and threw him into the pit or forced him into it. No pedophile lured him into the bushes before the 15 ft drop. A mother who ignored the warning signs her toddler was presenting is the reason this happened. If she would have taken action when he started talking about it, this incident wouldn't have occurred.

I'm not so much talking about you as I am the hundreds that I've seen discuss the issue

I guess we just have different opinions. No one but her and those around her knows what happened, what she said, or how it was said. When I referred to the other scenarios I was saying that people don't call for THEIR prosecution. If a child is at a playground and the mom is sitting on the bench watching the baby, and looks down for a second to check the time and looks up and baby is gone I never hear anyone saying she should be charged and blah blah blah. The way people think amazes me.. But we can agree to disagree:).

yeah I totally agree. it's 100% the mothers fault. and it's not just some random people or a news station saying what he said. EVERYONE heard this boy say multiple times mom I wanna go in with the gorilla mom I'm gonna go down to the gorilla like wtf is her problem put down your goddamn phone and pay attention. to your kid. I'm not the perfect mother no one is but I damn sure wouldn't of let that happen . I have an 18 month old so I know how stressful things can be and how fast they are but especially in an environment like a zoo fucking pay attention . the zoo had no.choice they did nothing wrong. I hate when an animal suffers because of humans being dumb. he's a wild animal he is doing what gorillas do he did nothing wrong either but it had to be done. I'm just glad the kid was ok. I can't believe the woman kept recording after he was down there. saying "mommys here" like wtf do something. I know myself and I would of jumped in it wouldn't be snart to do that but I wouldn't think I would of just reacted.
