I need some help/advice. So my son is now one month old. At his 2 week appt I noticed some bumps around his face his pediatrician said not to worry it was just baby acne. well over a period of 2 weeks it's like a full blown rash on his face and ears with peeling skin... we went to his 2 month check up Friday and his doctor just said put hydrocortisone 1% on it 4 times a day and it will clear up. he didn't tell us what kind of rash it was or anything. so Saturday I'm noticing my son's skin peeling... its dead/dry skin all over his onsie... I'm looking at his face and now he has blotches that are totally different from his regular skin. has anyone had this happen or any suggestions of what I should do?
I also have eczema so I thought that could be it... i think the hydrocortisone had something to do with the peeling and the skin change because before I started using it, his skin was fine just had a rash... hydrocortisone is also a steroid and could be too strong for him... I've used it on myself. I just wish I knew exactly what it was my pediatrician was no help @shan548
I mostly get it on my checks I still have one area that hasn't went away yet because I just started back using it last week.
Yeah it looks like a rash but i would still follow up with his doctor to make sure
so it's not vitiligo? and simply from the rash and the hydrocortisone @newmommyamber
Yes my son has the same thing on his left cheek and after i wash his face i put just a little bit of Vaseline and i notice a difference.
Well yes take him to the dermatologist instead then. If it anything it is too strong and they will give you something for babies.
