So, Im kind of upset/nervous, i have gatorcare so it made more financial sense to give birth at shands but im starting to have second thoughts. I walked to the front of the building and all these patients are smoking. When i moved to gainesville the insurance covered north florida doctors and so im kind of used to that. Its a clean, newer looking hospital. This is making me nervous more so because i feel like my family (from out of town) is going to criticize me about this. I know this is so shallow and stupid to post about. I dont want to pay the money to go to a six hour childbirth class just for the tour at the end (the only day we can go we plan on being out of town). They offer l&d tours but not the postpartum units.

My question is has anyone given birth at shands in gainesville? Is it clean and nice? Will you get placed in a room with someone else after you give birth (postpartum unit).
