Sorry ladies but just want to put this out there.
Is it only me that thinks motherhood is really sugar coated? All you see in Facebook, social media, the tv and even friends, you only get to hear about the good bits. The first words, the smiles, the good days! It makes you excited and "ready" for a baby. It isn't until you actually have a baby that the realisation kicks in! It isn't just good days, there is colic, weakened immune systems, endless washing, constantly cleaning bottles, wearing snot and spit up! Finally getting that 5 minute silence and then boom - screaming. I wish these parts of motherhood where broadcasted everywhere. Not as a scare tactic, but so that couples and a lot of people know what it's really like. The judgement seems to be so clouded with the cuteness of baby clothes and seeing everyone so happy with their baby! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love being a mummy and I wouldn't change it for anything! But I just wish I knew how bad the bad days could really get, and just how tiring this would be especially as a single parent!
I DID NOT intend for this to be negative, just the thoughts that go through my head, because social media and the TV make parenting look so easy. Even after working with children for years, I thought it was easy. Then I had Jayce😂 but like I said, I wouldn't change it for anything. He really had changed my life and moulded me into a much better person - as hard as it is, he really is my little miracle 💙💙

@emorleyx, high five! It's really tough! I'm only a month in and already lost hundreds of sleep, dealt with colic, projectile vomit, bronchulitis! No one warns you about all that! X

No they don't!! I couldn't wait for this little baby to be born as soon as I got home from hospital I was like what the hell do I do now??!! Cried for weeks and only just settling in, I was dizzy from lack of sleep and like yours, my son has had colic which we only just getting on top of. Take my hat of to you though for doing it alone even though you had no choice, it's the hardest thing but best thing ever isnt it💙 xx @beccastirlingx

couldn't have said it better myself. sometimes I look at the mums to be on this app all excited and I feel like if there was a way to prepare them better I wish I could cos they are just like we were when pregnant, naive. best job ever but sometimes it's the hardest thing to cope with ever. not that my partner's round much anyway but I get a little help. your doing it yourself, can't imagine the physical and mental tiredness you must be going through right now. my daughters 6 months now and it's a bit easier. dunno if that's cos her collic seems to be away. but anyway, 100% agree xx

@byoungx, exactly, it is really tough! So much to look forward to but at the same time, so much to dread! The colic is awful, I tried to swap his bottles back yesterday and I will never do that again, ever! Best job ever but bloody hell, it takes challenging to a whole new level xx

yeah it's amazing seeing them hit there milestones, birthdays etc. but the sleepless nights and screaming really takes it's toll. wouldn't wish colic on any baby or mother, so tough. I always wondered if I could swap back as I only have 3 big Dr Brown bottles, the other 2 are too small. but she has like 18 tommee tippee bottles 😅. after your experience Im not gonna try it tho! Haha. deffinatley does. see when jayce is older and got kids of his own he's gonna have a new found respect for you and be like how the hell did you do this yourself mum haha!! xx

Love this. I wish they told you about the projectile vomit and the PND, the first attempts at breast feeding when LO wakes u up every hour for a feed, the critiquing from family members that every decision you make is 'making a rod for your own back' we all love our little cherubs, but I feel much better that I know what I'm in for this time around rather than walking into the unknown last time, there should definitely be some sort of book or something on Facebook to Alert you of the not so magical parts lol @beccastirlingx @byoungx @emorleyx @leigh-amyxo

@byoungx, I bought 6 Dr. Browns after seeing how bad he was when he was first born, never looking back 😂 @kmcf2302 exactly! PND is the worst part, especially because most women feel ashamed of feeling down about being a mother so they don't seek the help they really need! They really should make women more comfortable with this and making them aware it is common and many women need help it with it!

@kmcf2302, the amount of people said I'm making a rod for my own back lmao!!! It's true that's all everyone says. Sick of family and friends saying stuff about my decision to breastfeed, he's my baby if I want to breastfeed i will. And so what if I put my baby in bed with me for an hour in a morning lol. Nobody tells you anything like this whenever I say it to my friends who are pregnant they don't believe me. I'm like wait till you can't have a number 2 or eat your tea in peace lol xx

Haha @emorleyx it's ridiculous isn't it. I said to my mum how I've bought dummies for my LO for when he's born and all she keeps saying is ' ooh breast feeding and now dummies. You're definitely making a rod for your own back ' 😐🙄 just have to bite my tongue and be like ' well if I am then I am but it's my baby and my rod for my back so I'll deal with it 😒 '
& @beccastirlingx yes! I feel PND should be a massive thing for new parents, there should be leaflets everywhere and books and Facebook articles! Awareness and how to help it should be paramount. It's so common and so so many people don't realise they have it, or won't admit they do. I didn't realise/admit it untill my little girl was 5 months old, I could have gotten help way before that and enjoyed the first 5 months of her life better, but the shame levels were too high! :( x

@kmcf2302, it's absolutely horrible, it really is. There are too much pressure for women as mothers. And that doesn't help a thing, between the hormones, the changed bodies, having this tiny new human to look after on top of sleepless nights, it really does take its toll! We all think it's going to be this great amazing journey, which it is, but there are tons of speed bumps along the way and PND is one massive bump a lot of women have to face! And it's such a shame because that's when mothers and their babies are possibly at risk because any form of depression can become completely in control! In my eyes, it should be a midwifes job to cover this and be fully trained to raise awareness of it! X

@beccastirlingx, exactly. Could not agree more! When my midwife asked me if I had PND depression before I was sort of reluctant to tell her about it. There's always a worry that they will think less of you or that you'll be incapable. Sounds a bit mental but I always worry they'll have a social worker waiting there when baby is born. There should definitely be some sort of reassurance for new mums that way I think

@kmcf2302, think that's why a lot of people don't speak out about it! Scared to loose their babies as people will see them as incapable!
