I need some advice I don't know if I'm doing it right or not !! my daughter is turning 3 tomorrow and I'm doing a little something for her my mother in law told me that she can't go cuz she has to work is fine I understand she is calling me since yesterday so I can go and take my daughter to her so she can give her the birthday present and I don't want to do it cuz she never been on any birthday of my Daughter this time she has to work the other two she just never went and if u really appreciate your grand child I think at least you can go and take the present personal to her cuz u have time and a car , she always wants to buy my daughter love with material I told her every time that u see her u don't have to give her something just go and see her with your empty hands so she can love u for what u are and not for the things that u give her .

I dealt with the same thing!! for my son's 2nd bday my MIL txted me the day of to tell me to bring him to her so she could buy him something, like no you should have gotten something at least a week in advance! and she was always bringing him crap like dollar store cheap toys that would break all the time, or stuff my SIL didn't want her child to have. we haven't talked/seen her in a year cause she is too self centered. it should be about the kids not the adults but if an adult can't get it together they shouldn't really be involved.

That's my point and is not even about Gift is that u should take time to spend time with her if u want her to love u and she been in all the birthdays of the other ones is like u shouldn't Make deferences . @curvymommy

exactly, if you don't want to or make excuse or just plain not show up, that tells a lot about you and how you feel about your loved ones. children shouldn't be bought either, they would rather have love than millions of toys. I know my mom and my dad have an AMAZING relationship with my son because they spend time with him and love him. that's really all that matters
