Does anyone know of a birth control to take after baby is born thay won't effect breastfeeding? I don't want pills or the shot. I had the Mirena before and had planned on getting that again until I read it could dry up milk production. Anyone been on mirena and EBF or know of something else that is good?

iud and the pill are the only ones recommended most while nursing, for effectiveness and safety. the shot i know has side effects. milk supply can always be effected by a lot of things but won't ever dry up.completely from one source, like birth control, you can always try it and see or take the pill til you finish nursing. good luck!

I loved when I had my iud which is why I wanted it again. That makes sense though that anything could probably effect it. I'm just a nervous Nancy and afraid I won't have a good supply. @marienoelle

I had Nexplanon after my son and breast fed just fine...

I had mirena iud put in after my son was born and breastfed exclusively for 12 months. It didn't affect my supply one bit!

Well that makes me feel better @indigenousmommy I'll probably end up getting it again. I loved not having periods.
I just don't like the thought of the nexplanon since they basically slice your arm open. lol
