if someone has a good quality camera , the pictures won't look horrible .

Not saying they will, but they also won't look like professional ones. Not knocking anyone, just my opinion.

If you can afford it, photography is the one thing to never go cheap on. For any event. You can have a whole DIY inexpensive wedding, but a great photographer will help everything show its greatest potential. Same with maternity photos I'm sure!!

I'm no professional but I did my best friends I took photography in school and also have done alot of side timr learning and they came out way better than my brothers girlfriends who went to a professional (most pictures you couldn't even see her bumb because of the angle of the picture)

I went to the 99 cent store and bought supplies so I can give my daughter a nice photo shoot for her turning four months. Every month I'm going to come up with a new idea and location. I say work with what you got

I was quiet disappointed looking through their photos. But if they are happy then I guess it's best. Their photographer has done amazing work and when are their album it's like she was having a bad day or something. You expect your photos to live up to your photographers work especially with the cost you pay.

@tiffrae That's horrible... I would have asked for a reshoot. I found one that is reasonably priced and we are doing ours on the beach... her specialty is maternity shoots, newborn sessions, etc. I hope after my first shoot, to keep her with us so we can do babies first birthday and family shoots. I think it would be nice to have the same person.

When my daughter was born my husband and I made sure we took professional photos every couple of months (including less than 24 hours after she was born). I say if you can, why not? (my husband and I do not splurge on much, but when it comes to these memories, we feel it is important) I can take decent pictures, but nothing like professional ones. we will be doing the same thing when our son is born too! Don't let people judge you for it, we don't regret it at all!

We're going a maternity shoot and a newborn session, then babies first birthday.. etc. People are just bitter, it's not my fault they can't afford it. @lkmama I made sure that why we decided to have a baby we had the finances for it.

Don't let no one make you feel bad about it if you can afford it then do it . I'm doing it I'm getting two sessions alone before my son is even born first I'm doing a belly paint session lil mini shoot and then my maturity shoot . Then when my son is born I have his session. So don't let anyone knock you @sarinunez

@sarinunez, seriously, I don't understand why anyone would try and tell you something negative about it, I thought it was normal to want to do professional photos (especially of your pregnancy and of your kid(s))! We feel like if we can fit it in our budget and it's something we really want, why not?

well don't judge someone for not worrying so much about finding a photographer , pictures are pictures and if the person who wants them thinks they are nice then your option doesn't matter . I get my daughters pictures done every once in awhile and I take the others you might not like them but your option doesn't matter to everyone

I judged no one. But alright. I saud the truth, you haven't trained to be a photographer, there's a lot that goes into doing shoots especially for newborns. No need to be defensive. @alainalovesmommy
