We are getting married in a little less than a month. I can't wait till we all have the same last…

Just don't be lazy like me... Married almost two years and still haven't changed mine legally. I go by "Loya" but I just haven't changed it to that because I hate the social security office... It's always like 10 million people in there. 😫

I thought they changed it automatically once they sign the marriage license and then you just have to go and get on with things with your new name on it but I thought when she signed illegally work or whatever their last name was if you took it on. @breloya 😳

Nope. You have to personally get a new social security card with your change of name. Then get a new drivers license, passport, and everything else within a certain amount of time after getting your new social. I guess they do it that way because not everybody takes their husbands last name.

@hamman13 Nope you have to go to your courthouse and do it. I'm getting married next year but changing my last name before my baby is born.

Oh okay in pa I think it does change automatically if you choose that it's says your new name on your marriage license and then you have to get the certified copy of your marriage license from the courthouse send it to the Social Security and all that other other places so that they match but technically your name changes the day you get married you just have to update everything else. @breloya And @sarinunez I won't be a problem for me because were just getting married at the courthouse anyways so it'll be done by a judge anyways. 😄 at least one step easier 🙌🏽 thank goodness

I should've gotten married in PA then lol. I wish every state just automatically sent it to social security. I have to request a new social card with the change of name form and all that bs.

Ohh no they don't send it. I have to send it. It's just officially my name once we get married when we sign it with the new name and than I send the ss office so that I can get my new social. It just like when you get a name change. When I got my name change when I was a kid. Once my dad got it signed by the judge it was official I just had to get a new ss card 😂😂
