@hermommy, I am not sure if I'll wait the whole 24 hours but they say it's better for her and I am sure as hell gonna make sure they don't cut the cord 1st.

You rub the vernix in to their skin, it's said to help their immune system and also with rashes:)

@hermommy, is it at least 24 hours or more? do you know?

I don't believe it matters, you can wipe the excess off after rubbing it in:)

@hermommy, my husband doesn't like the idea of her being on my chest and slimy. I plan to breastfeed right after she comes out

Both my twins and my oldest didn't get baths until 24-48 hours after birth, but they weren't completely covered in vernix. None of my kids have skin problems and didn't have rashes after birth :)

@followoursurrogacy, @heidi3581 @hermommy my husband has seborrheic dermatitis which is a skin condition so I'm not sure if our daughter would have it or not but of not giving her a bath can help why not try

we left the cord for 3 minutes and baby girl just had her first real bath tonight and she'll be 2 weeks old tomorrow. the day she was born I rubbed the vernix into her skin and it made her so so soft.. and not just that her skin has barely peeled any!
