I'm gonna say what I said in another post as a comment....As far as crib bumpers are concerned, if you are choosing to use them, you are choosing to put your child at risk for SIDS. I'm sorry, but I'd rather my child's hand or foot go through the crib bars and them cry for a few minutes until I can get them unstuck, rather than never be able to cry again due to SIDS....
Something to think about.
Also, I have had 5 kids, and with the 4 who were in cribs (new baby isn't yet) I never had not one of them get stuck in the bars, because I never allowed them to just sit in their cribs unnatended when they weren't sleeping. Also something to think about.

They don't die of SIDS when they suffocate against a bumper. They don't know why SIDS happen that's why it's called sudden infant death syndrome. That's also why they rule children's deaths as SIDS when they don't know exactly what happened. They suffocate against bumper pads that's something they know for a fact.

@santistevanmommie, I agree. Same with parents who choose to swaddle babies who can roll & they suffocate. That's NOT SIDS.

It's in SIDS risk lists everywhere hun. The doctors recommend against it for just that reason. @santistevanmommie

listen I don't even use cribs I always thought they were useless and unsafe all three of my kids slept in bassinets and pack n plays because I think they are safer and I'm guilty of having my kids sleep in bed with me so so I can keep and eye on them but when they did sleep in there bed it was just them in there nothing else

I just read an article about this exact thing from a Drs site. It specifically says it's not a risk of SIDS it's a risk of suffocation. It said it was once thought to cause SIDS but later research showed its not SIDS that they still don't know what causes SIDS. Bumpers run a risk of suffocation

They have breathable mesh liners to keep babies out from between the bars! My son used to roll and roll in his sleep and wake up because he was stuck buy now he just sleeps with us.

I never used the bumpers that came with the bedding either. pretty much just the sheets and skirt.
