right ladies, I work in a bar, I finish between 12.30am and 1am which I can't physically do anymore. I've explained this to my manager (young married lad, no kids, no life experience) and he says I'm being ridiculous and it's not his problem I'm pregnant with twins and have other children to get to school for 7.40 (breakfast club) he has cut my hours down and doesn't answer my calls or texts when I ask for the rota so I've missed several shifts (rota is done on a sat to start sunday-satutday) which isn't my fault. he is trying to sack me for no shows. I've rang head office amd explained I'm 11 weeks pregnant, why would I purposely miss shifts when I need the maternity leave?! they are now doing am investigation and I don't want to go back to work as my manager is going to be horrible and I will walk out!! o feel stuck between a rock and a hard place. I can work day shift or even till 11pm which again I've explained. I just don't know what to do xx

Can your partner come in for "few drinks" on your first shift back for some encouragement. Try and stick it out, as much as you want to kick him in the crotch! But I'm sure there would be away around it maybe you could push the anxiety route at cab and go for government maternity allowance instead as I can't imagine it would be good for you and if it really is grinding you down talk to your doctor and get a sick note for stress xx

I feel like a fraud doing that but I have to think of myself don't I? I'm stressing to the max as I feel like he criticises everything I do (it's not hard pulling a pint but he will find a fault) I personally think he is jealous cos his Mrs is struggling to fall pregnant (again not my fault) maybe I'm just taking everything to heart and should put up amd shut up! xx

Not if it's putting a lot of pressure on to you!! And yes you and babies are most important!! He needs to be professional and not involve his own problems. If you feel like maybe you have been overreacting give one or two more shifts to see whether you are or if he really is being a dick! When I first fell pregnant I got sciatica and wasn't entitled to mat so I had to leave early and the gov supported me. Look at your options Hun and try not to freak out. He's the one in the wrong!!! Xx

go to your doctor and get a sick note stating amended duties on it, tell your doctor to include in there that you are fit for work but not after 11pm, take that note to your manager and he won't have a leg to stand on. get yourself a union rep and make sure you keep logs of calls/texts to your manager as proof you are doing everything in your power that is reasonable in regards to your shifts. with this evidence they can't sack you as pregnancy is a protected characteristic. don't take any shit off him hun I'm always available to chat if you need to message xx

thanks @beadyeyes93 @deedee1988 great advice. will ring the Dr's 1st thing and go see him. he is a family friend so he should be able to give me a decent sicknote. the other thing was, he went mad at me for leaving a customer cos I was going to be sick, I mean come on I can't help being sick can I! he said it's morning sickness not all day sickness! I had to walk away before I ripped his head off xx

also..... in regards to cutting down your shifts my union rep told me if you have a contract for specific amount of hours he has to find you those hours with reasonable adjustments made on a risk assessment for you, if he can't supply those hours he still has to pay you as your contracted! ( so if you're contracted 37.5 hrs and he only gives you like 30, then he still has to pay you for 37.5 hours)

Ask for a pregnancy risk assessment there should be reasonable adjustments to ensure you are not at risk and as above if you have contract for specific hours then he can not reduce them because you are pregnant x
