My sister is looking to do a family meal for her sons birthday and she got all funny when I said we couldn't afford it... apparently £30 isn't expensive for a meal. I think she's forgetting I'll more than likely have a newborn by then!!

I know this feeling, not the exact same situation, got a family wedding 3 weeks after baby is due and they've asked for money as a gift then got arsey because I said we won't be able to give them much, I don't think people realise/remember how expensive a baby is x

I would suggest a tea party at yours a few days after or before his birthday. I have this problem with my brother in law, he invited us for a meal yesterday, we said yes along as it's not expensive, clearly his expensive amd my expensive are 2 different things lol xx
