I'm a support worker for vulnerable adults with challenging behaviour (I get hit out at alot and it's mentally draining with the repetition and psychology side of it) I'm 12 weeks and already struggling with work who at first wouldn't swap me to less challenging clients who hit out less, I feel like they couldn't care less about me and my baby and I'm absolutely hating work atm. any of you ladies had a similar experience with a similar job and roughly when did you go on maternity? I really don't think I can make it to like 36 weeks with coming home crying almost every day

I was a support worker for the disabled and before finding out I was pregnant, I was with a young man with very bad challenging behaviour, he lashed out at me while I was 11 weeks pregnant and straight away my employer moved me to someone not violent but very mentally challenging and required 24 hour shifts - again, I had to be moved because what pregnant woman can stay awake, alert and sane for 24 hours? I finally went on maternity leave at 32 weeks as I was struggling with the demands of the job. You have rights to me moved to where you and your baby are free of harm! Speak to a rep at a CAB office to see what can be done! Hopefully it gets sorted for you @deedee1988 cx

I was a care assistant for a teenager who has really bad physical and mental disabilities. I loved my job, and I could manage as it was always 2 to 1 care for her, it was my boss that was causing me issues. I got bullied, reduced hours, took on new staff to try and push me out because I was pregnant and she even told me it was due to me being pregnant and she didn't like it. Her daughter was trying and because I wasn't technically "trying" I had stolen her thunder. 😕 a child is precious not a pawn I'm a game. But anyways off topic, my doctor was concerned because I cried every night after work and morning before work, I hated it. I got put on the sick as it was effecting me badly, 7 weeks on the sick then I started my maternity at 29 weeks. It was easier for me to start earlier as I won't be returning back to that environment so I wasn't bothered when I took maternity xx

thanks ladies, I have been moved now after having to argue with my boss and my partner stepped in as he also works for the company, I'm so unhappy here which is a shame because I enjoyed it beforehand xx

I nurse with ppl who are mentally unwell. As soon as I told work i was pregnant my employer carries out regular risk assessment and the team ensures that I do not nurse those who pose a risk to me and the baby. I thought this would be the same everywhere. Have you contacted HR if this is not the case?

we don't have a hr department as it's family run so I went straight to my boss, she then told me she didn't have to do a risk assessment until I was 12 weeks, to which I argued I wanted one done straight away as I could no longer restrain 3 and 4 to 1 clients any longer, she gave in and done one but I've had nothing but attitude and my hours had dropped until I contacted cab where she shit herself. I just don't need the stress of fighting her to get what's right for me and baby when she should be doing it automatically xx
