I feel like I'm going to be a bad parent... I mean I work with kids everyday. I have a stepdaughter and I just had to send her to room for not obeying... I don't want her to hate me but I want her to listen.. I think I'm going to make her a rules chart, and punishment chart to go along with it and a chore chart... Thoughts? What works for your family?

That doesn't make you a bad parent. I have two preteen boys and punishment changes with age. Now since everything they do consist of technology and requires a charger. I take their chargers away and ban them from using any device.

I do an allowance chart and she can earn extra by NOT having an attitude. Works like a charm 😀

Letting kids know you're in charge doesn't make you a bad parent! It makes you a good one! The moment they know you're a softy they'll walk all over you! Kids need to know who's the boss and what is expected of them! After every punishment with my 7 year old I always sit him down and make sure he understands why he was punished and talk of a way to prevent said problem from happening again! Also if you have a negotiator.. Trust me I do! He could teach a college coarse on negotiating.. Or even kids who wanna continue to argue..Best response.. asked and answered. You asked your question and I answered it.. It's golden!! 😉
