Ladies, I have a question; when you get induced, are you more likely to have to get a c-section?…

The chance does increase but it depends on the person.

I have 3 kids already and I was induced with 2 of those pregnancies and the other I went in labor

It is said that the risk of c section goes up because your forcing ur body to go into labor and if ur body doesn't respond and progress like it should then could put the baby in distress. I was successfully induced with my first, and I'm doing it again in 4 weeks, I know c section is a risk but as long as baby healthy that's all I care about . This is usually why drs will check to see if ur dilated at all or effaced before giving the ok for inducing, if ur body isn't showing any progress on its own, it's less likely that inducing would work

I did both. Got induced and had a c section. But in the past year 4 of my friends who were also induced were able to have vaginal deliveries. I had bleeding from my placenta which is what lead to my C. Each case is so different

My doctor said that once they induce you and you reach 5cm dilated - anything that happens after that (vaginal or c section) was going to happen anyways 🤔 So I really think it's a case to case thing.

If you're not already dilating they give you cervadil first then after 12 hours they give you pitocin. 2 of my 4 friends were done that way

I went 9 days over due and was not even a full cm dilated when I was induced and I didn't have to have a c section.

Really what you should do is ask your Drs opinion. Some Drs are quick to cut. My delivery dr was very pro vaginal delivery and she did offer me another option that I decided against and in the end it would have been worse. Other than the bleeding which was minimal but worrisome, my other issue was the baby wouldn't drop in to position. I couldn't sit up because my pressure would drop and I would get dizzy and start throwing up and I couldn't lay on my right side because the baby's Heart beat would slow down so I could. Only lay on my left side. So the other option was to give me something to increase my pressure and try to sit me up to try to get the baby to drop in. In the end we decided against that and it was a good thing because the reason my pressure was dropping is because 3 of my heart valves were prolapsing, if we would have gone the other route I could have been in serious trouble. Then once the baby was born and we saw how big he was and that was most likely the reason he wouldn't drop in we realized that it really was the best route because I would have ripped from front to back. Also I'm still having pelvic issues, imagine how much worse it would have been if I would have kept trying to push him out. That's when a scheduled C turns in to an emergency C and that's when things can really get scary. What I will say in the end have a plan but don't go crazy if your "plan" doesn't go as planned. Just breath and roll with the punches.
