Vitamin K for newborn babies

You’ll be offered an injection of vitamin K for your baby. This helps to prevent a rare bleeding disorder called haemorrhagic disease of the newborn. Your midwife should have discussed the injection with you while you were pregnant.

If you prefer your baby not to have an injection, they can have vitamin K by mouth instead, but they will need further doses.

My son had it by injection minutes after her was born . If your worrid hun ask you midwife too . We've going to let our little girl have it too it's such a hard decision to choose to or not to cause you worry about side effect and the your worrid about what of you don't give it xx

everyone gets it as soon as their born u don't have to accept but it's really important

My daughter had it 2 mins after she was born :) no side effects at all :) It helps to clot the blood :) xx

My son had it when they dressed him about 20 minutes after he was born he wasn't phased and no side affects at all xx
