Yeah if this is your first time being assessed the fee they may be able to give you a courtesy reversal for at least one of the fees. Sounds like you were assessed a fee. I wouldn't suggest lying but stretch it a lil... Lol. You didn't know the transaction would take place at that moment.. You were expecting it to be withdrawn when you received your direct deposit.. They made an error and wasn't supposed to withdraw that amount. Something, lol. Ask to speak to a branch manager if the rep refuses.

Lol credit unions and banks have a NSF fee. It's in the documents you sign prior to opening the account. If you don't have enough funds available a merchant shouldn't try to withdraw funds from the account. You should call the merchant and let them know that the funds will not be available prior to them attempting to take it out of your account.. Or process a stop payment.
@xoxoalexusss, call and explain the situation. Maybe they will have meecy and take off something...wont hurt to try.
@klj, & they tried to take more money than usual because my stupidness didn't call the company & cancel before they could take money out . So it just added up over time. @klj
Girl no . It's this new thing Navy Federal stuck me with call an "insufficient funds fee" whenever something tries to take more than what I have in my checking account they charge me $29.00 . 😒 it's stupid .
Is the overdraft fee from a bank? Ask whether they could waive some of it as a courtesy. It wont hurt to try...especially if this is your first overdraft.

I have navy federal and that happened to me. Call them and say you didn't authorize the transaction because you didn't have enough. They should take the fees off.
