So yesterday around 2, I noticed that when I touched the outside of my left leg, it hurt like a bruise. Well I knew I didn't hit it on anything so I took a look. This pic is what I saw. After a quick text convo, I decided to go to Urgent Care to have it looked at. The Dr said it was possibly the start of Shingles. I had Shingles in 2014 so I knew what it was and didn't want it again. He gave me cream to put on it and said if it wasn't better by Friday, tell my OB at my appt. When I got bk home, I had to Google. Couldn't resist. It wasn't shingles. I was right. I researched skin discoloration in pregnancy. So much came up. Then I saw a pic that looked like my leg. Blessed be! It's called Erythema ab igne and it comes from being too close to artifical heat for too long. I sit with a space heater by my desk. I've done this all winter and still do bc our building is like 60° everyday. I saw the dr to confirm. So now I have to wait a few weeks to see if it clears up. Be mindful when you use heating pads and blankets and space heaters. The results can be a lot worse than my leg and take a lot longer to heal.
