With my early delivery, I know things don't go as planned. I would definitely ask a nurse if the hospital has social workers or someone you can talk to about getting car seats. Explain to them you thought you would have more time. I told the hospital I had my 29 weeker at that I didn't have money to buy a new car seat (mine was a 5 pound and up one, but he was under 5 pounds when he left so I needed a whole new seat) and they ended up giving me a seat. Not sure if that's just a California thing, a nicu thing, or what, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
They have places they give free new ones , I know they hospitals in fl give you one new if you don't have one also depending on your insurance they usually have things where you can get a car seat stroller crib stuff like that
I thought I had time lol @kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom everything i had planned didnt go as planned 😳 when i had my son they didnt let me go until they saw the car seat, Im not sure if its like that at all hospitals but I wanna prepared..which i shouldve been a long time ago ugh
You didn't pick out car seats before going into labor? I delivered at 29 weeks and I had a car seat (but I couldn't use it because he was too small for it). I'm not sure what it's like at all hospitals, but if your hospital is big enough maybe they'll have car seats you can have. The hospital I delivered my preemie at had special 4 pound and up car seats.
