Will My Baby Be Okay at the First OB Appointment?
so i went at 8 wks pregnant to the hospital for my first ultra sound and the baby was healthy and heart beat was 150..tomorrow i go for my first OB appointment where they do exam and check babies heart beat ..do you think the baby will be okay..cause the lady explained what will happen at this appointment and saie we hope to hear a heart beat so me being paranoid freak wonders if you think all is well??

Sometimes they can't hear the heart beat till 12 weeks is all she meant by that because the baby is so small and has a lot of protection around it

Don't feel bad I'm terrified cause I went at 5 wks and had no heart beat yet and I go back next week to see if we can hear it I'm so nervous

Did you hear it through ultrasound or the hand held device

@abeals04, i saw the heart beat at my 8 weeks ultra sound im gonna be almost 11 weeks and tomorrow we will check to hear it

Yeah they use a hand held thing I don't know what it is called and sometimes they have issues hearing it they couldn't hear my son at 12 weeks and he is almost four and half months they just tell you that so you know a head of time

The hand held device is called a Doppler. Usually you can't hear babies heartbeat thru the Doppler til like end of first trimester cuz they're so tiny and too many layers of skin amniotic sac etc. but if you saw that flicker on the ultrasound screen you're doing great! That's a really good sign. I saw mine on u/s at 7 weeks :) best of luck don't stress

@bria, yeah i saw yhe flicker of heart beat ;) i just want our baby to be good ;)
