Semen has prostaglandins which act as a cervical ripening agent. In order for it to work the semen has to have frequent enough contact with the cervix. Also orgasms stimulate contractions.

I wonder the same thing cause when I have sex my fiancés semen just falls right back out (sorry tmi) but I was curious too if it's supposed to stay in or not to actually work

It depends on how ready your body is for labor. If your body is ready it may just take one time. If not it may take a few times.

Sometimes you dont. These things cant be predicted. Ready can be that your cervix is starting to soften and maybe dilate already. Just let the baby come when the time is right. Your body will know what to do. Dont rush it.

Yeah don't always believe the sex thing because with my first daughter me and my husband use to have sex a lot(he came everytime) sorry tmi and I was 70?faced and 3cm dilated and she was 5days late. Your baby will come when it's ready!!!

It softens the cervix. Idk if it has to stay up in there. I never really gave that much thought but it's a great question!

It's not proven to even work though. but all 3 kids of mine came at 38 weeks and the last 2 I was having sex almost daily, idk if that's what made a difference though.
