Great tips for first time, TTC, former, expecting moms:
•When babies are new the tend to sound stuffy. You may notice they sound very congested but nothing is coming out of their nose, normal.
•Newborns have very small tummies! You may notice they seem to not get full. You can give them 4 oz and they are still fussy. Wth!😧 If you're giving a newborn (let's say 4day older) 3 oz. and they seem fussy and want more, consider finding something to soothe them. Most of the time when you overfeed a newborn they'll get a tummy ache and comfort feed. We're really stretching their little tummies. This is one of the main reasons that our little sweeties are fussy. We overfeed them unknowingly and they get too full and uncomfortable. Try feeding your baby an oz and burp, an oz and burp until they seem to be fine. I am glad I had a lactation consultant smart enough to bring this to my attention because this was definitely a problem with us.
•Baby acne is normal! It will not go away by any remedies. As much as I love using breast milk for everything, it doesn't make baby acne go away. It may just be a coincidence. It definitely does go away eventually. It only bothers us moms seeing it. In no way is it harming baby.
• CONSTIPATION IS NOT THE FREQUENCY IN POOP. You determine constipation in the texture. Everyone's baby doesn't go as often as some others. I had a baby that barely pooped. Well, one reason being he was breastfed. With the milk being easily digested, he didn't poop as often as other babies. He even went up to 11 days without pooping😱. If your baby has hard, pellet shaped poop, you may want to take him/her to the pediatrician. Juices and other sorts of remedies (prunes) are not recommended for young babies. They digestive system is still very sensitive. It's important to know whether your child is actually constipated or not.
•It is absolutely normal to break down. If you feel overwhelmed with your baby, get a breather. Make sure your child is fed, changed, and in a safe environment and walk away. Every one of us moms have went through this.
• SIDS is not the same as suffocation. SIDS cause is unknown. That's why it's called sudden death. Do not put your baby in a situation where they can suffocate.
•Always take your child to a doctor if you are worried about their health. No one on Preggie or anywhere can give you a sure diagnosis for your child. I was in the doctor's office quite a bit with my baby. Last week he was walking funny and I took him in. Don't worry about wasting the doctors time. We're paying them, not them paying us. It is better to be safe than sorry.
•Find time for yourself and your husband/SO. This is so crucial. Sometimes men tend to get jealous of the babies. They feel like all of our attention goes to the baby. Well, duhh. We both made this baby but we seem to do more. Make your relationship with your lover a priority.
• The house will get a little messy after having a child. This was one of the hardest things for me. I "was" a clean freak. I am just now learning 10 months later that it is ok. Don't stress yourself out trying to clean up all the time. I guarantee it'll get messy again. One day at a time, honey. It will soon pass.
• Lastly, you are a great mom! Whether you cosleep or put that baby in a crib, breastfeed or give that baby a bottle full of juicy formula😋, babywear or put that baby down, No med birth or have an epidural, child!! You are a great, beautiful, wonderful, smart, happy, determined, strong momma!!😘😘😘😘😪

Great information! My son sounds so stuffy and congested and I'm wondering what's going on. He has his doctors appointment on Wednesday so I'll ask then. As far as breastfeeding, he always seems hungry.

@haniyyah90 Glad I could help. It really is useful information. @excitedmom37 Yes! Breastfed babies tend to get hungry fast because the milk is easily digested. I should have mentioned that. I was more targeting babies that drink from a bottle. Glad it was great info!❤

@quansmommyy Some people have baby carriers and wraps and walk around like that. I got one when my son was younger to get stuff done why I was holding him.
