So my husbands father died in 2012, he still grieves daily. He is down and depressed every holiday and this will be his first Father's Day and he doesn't want to do anything with us because that's the day his father died. He won't talk about it and idk how to help... I try but nothing I do helps... I just want him to want to spend this day with his son 😢😔💔

just try explaining to him that his father may not be around anymore but he has all the memories to cherish and that his son needs him so that one day when he is gone he will have something to look back on and feel loved

@kaylajay, I've tried that and he just says I know and kinda lets it go in one ear and out the other. I've never lost someone close to me so I can't relate, but I just don't want that to stop him from making good memories with our son 😔

He is only 2 months, so he won't even remember this Father's Day, but he said he will never want to celebrate Father's Day. I'm just hoping that one day he changes his mind. He is the same way on his birthday and Christmas. I really try to understand, but I just want him to be happy and enjoy the time he has with his family.

Let him go visit his father and take your son also so your husband can tell your son what a great grandpa he is and it will hurt but slowly he healing and introducing his son to his grandpa.

@deafmama16, thank you! That's a good idea. His father was his best friend so I know it hurts him. But hopefully when my son gets old enough to do things with him, then he will change how's he feels a little more.

I agree with @deafmama16 have him and baby boy go to see him so he can slowly start to heal. maybe make it a monthly thing. it will take some time but eventually he will feel more open to the idea of father's day with his son.
