It checks ketone in your urine. basically checking for proteins to make sure your body is absorbing what it should. I've had to do it at home with the Gestational diabetes.

I asked at my last appointment. The Nurse looked at me in shock. Then told me it was for protein and bacteria. I was waiting for her to question me about my drug use after that lol.

it's called a urine dipstick. it measures any glucose, ketones, protein, blood, bacteria, pH, and white blood cells that may be in your urine. I'm a lab tech and do this test daily
