No according to my ob it doesn't go back. I've been having trouble with my cervix since 25ish weeks and was told it won't go back just continue to shorten then open.

Actually if there's agitation to the cervix it can swell back down. I was an 8-9 one hr then the next I was 5-6 and had to have a c section
