you shouldn't buy a lot more, buy some 3mon and 3/6 month. I would have a few newborn but not many... most average size babies are only in them for a couple weeks
My son is already in 6 month clothes and he is 6 weeks. I bought mostly 3 and 6 month before he came. He outgrows things so fast. What kills me is the variation in sizing. Even across the same brand. Some onesies from Carters fit great and some are too small- even though they are labeled the same size.
I bought up to 12 months so far only a couple newborns bc I was told that I could only wear that size for a month. You could either go buy more of a variation or just wait until baby gets here and buy as you need ☺️
The ultrasound predicted my son to be between 7 and 8 pounds. We were thinking that he was going to be bigger. He ended up being born on his due date and weighed 6 lb 14 oz. he is now a month old and 8 lb 8 oz and still wears newborns. We didn't buy any newborn sizes because we thought he would be big. The only ones we have are just a few pieces that people gave us at the shower. And I never did buy more because I wasn't sure how long he would be in them.

Yeah 3-6 months is better most babies only fit newborn and 0-3 for a week or two.

I had my baby four days ago, he weights 7lb 4oz now and doesn't fit newborn. They will grow into whatever you buy.

But if you keep the tags on everything (and it helps if you have the receipts too) then you can just return or exchange whatever baby doesn't wear.
