My babies butt always gets worse with desitin but her butt loooves triple paste. When we don't have that we use vaseline.

I used to work as a caregiver and with hospice so when skin breakdown happens we use calazime paste mixed with petroleum jelly. Its a really thick pink paste and can be difficult to take off but it works like magic. It's easier to take off if use lotion to break it down so you can reapply or use something else. It's super important to make sure everything is nice and dry before putting anything on the skin though. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of a protective layer. I use desitin on Lucas and thankfully we've never had a problem

@leesambee, any pharmacy should have it. If not on hand ask the pharmacist to order it for you. Medline is the most common brand name but it's expensive too $12 for a tube . A little goes a long way with the stuff tho.

@leesambee, believe it or not that's normal! Lol after working in that field I can tell u that skin breakdown happens faster than you can keep up. All u need is moisture and heat for it to start. I always change Lucas when I see that he's gone even if the diaper is only half full because it's just not worth it . If she has a hard time, an oatmeal bath can help too. Old fashioned oats and warm water, no soap needed. Rinse her well and it will help calm her skin down :)

If you get to worried about other get air out without a diaperr for five min between changes and it should clear up in no time.
