My Birth Story

I was due on December 22, 2015

I gave birth on December 23rd at 9:40am to a healthy full term baby girl. She weighed 7lbs 10oz. I had a natural labor with a little help from Phentonal (spelling?) it only let me sleep between contractions and help take the edge off, but I still felt the full strength of each contractions. My husband and mom were in the room with me and watched my baby girl be born.

The night of my due date, still no baby yet and didn't seem like there would be any chance of her coming that night so we decided to go out on a date night since it would be our last one for a while after the baby arrived. I tried everything to get our baby to come early or on time and nothing was working so I just gave up and decided she would come when she was ready. We went to Tacobell and the movies a half hour away from home. On our trip there we were laughing and having a great time and I felt some contractions from laughing but thought nothing of it and continued on with our night. During our movie my baby was flipping and kicking almost thrashing in my belly which really concerned me but I continued on and just waited till she calmed down thinking it was from dinner that she was moving around so much. When we got home around midnight I told my husband I was worried she would be tangled in her cord and would be thrashing because she was dying but he told me I was over thinking it because I got that idea from Google haha. We went and made love before bed. I felt crampy after but figured it was because I was so freaking huge that it was normal. I slept through my whole pre labor and woke up to contractions 3-5 min apart at 2 am. I called my mom who works at the hospital where I had my baby and she told me it was time to come in. I woke up my husband and told him it was baby time, he woke up all sorts of excited and almost left without me!!!! On our way to the hospital which was a half hour drive away, my husband sang songs to me and made the trip as enjoyable as possible even through the contractions. We arrived and I was only at a 3 so they had me walk the halls of the hospital for an hour to progress the labor more. My husband was there to hold me up through every contraction. When we returned to the room I was at a 4 so they put in an IV which they missed three times😭 and let me labor some more in the pre labor room. I was in a squat position through most of my labor which was the most comfortable position. When I was a 6 they moved me to the labor room. I did a great job breathing through each contraction. My best friend became the peanut ball. My mom and husband were in the labor and delivery room with me. My baby was sunny side up so I had to roll side to side to try and flip her. My husband and mom took turn pressing on my back through contractions to help with back labor. My Dr showed up when I was at a 8 and broke my water which had a tint of green so they were worried she had pooped in her water but just waited to see if more came out since there was such little green in my water No more came out so my Dr disappeared for a little while and pooped back in to help coach me and made sure everything was going as planned. As my labor progressed they put the squat bar up which I used a lot of at the end. I was trying my hardest not to sware during my labor but my mom and husband started to laugh at me which I freaked out on them about... I felt so bad after lol My body wanted to push so bad but they kept telling me to wait or I would rip my cervix so I kept waiting till I couldn't wait any longer. The nurse told me to do a few practise pushes which were actually real pushes. Oh man did it feel so good to push finally!!!! As I was pushing I saw my Dr come in and just as I was crowning she was slipping one arm into her gown and caught my baby's head with her hand as she slipped her other arm into her gown. My baby had her cord around her neck once but caused no issues. I did feel the burn as she crowned but after that she came out in ten min of pushing with no tears. the second they put her on me she pooped everywhere and I delivered my placenta shortly after. My husband and mom got to share that amazing moment with me. A total of 7 hrs of labor and 10 min of pushing. She only cried one time after she was born she just laid there looking at everyone. I breast fed her while she was still on my chest. I took a shower after and she got a bath after because she didn't have any vernix on her. We walked to our room and got to push the nursery bell to announce her birth. We got settled in our room and spent the day visiting with family and went home the next day on the 24th. My favorite Christmas present ever.
