How do you mommies feel about breast feeding / formula. I personally hate formula.

I'm doing both...

Formula should always be a second option. Sometimes its necessary as in cases when they can't produce enough or baby is lactose intolerant. Breast milk really is the best health wise. Pumping also is a great thing

i wanted to breastfed. i never wanted to formula feed. my son was born at 33 weeks and in the nicu for 7 weeks. he was on oxygen and a feeding tube. it made it almost impossible to breastfed because his mouth was so small then the tubes getting in the way. my son is 9 months and is healthy and happy. formula or breastfed doesn't matter honestly. as long as your baby is fed and happy, you do what you need to do.

Both are good for the baby. I myself breastfeed. I love it!

@brionie31, it is a lot of hard work. it is not all that it's cracked up to be. it is hard and frustrating. get a lactation consultant if possible. i wish i had. i do regret not being able to breastfeed but i am happy with how it happened. it was easier for him to formula feed in the nicu. i wish you the best, momma!!!

Exactly! I by no means judge mamas who can't or don't breastfeed. it's hard work and sometimes isn't an option I hope you didn't take my comment the wrong way @sidanddelos15

@lilkountryma, no i didn't take it the wrong way. i completely agree that it is a second option. i think all mom's should have the intent on breastfeeding and always have the option to change their mind whether it be personal or medical.

I know @sidanddelos15 I already have all that set up . I just wanna be able to bond with her when she's here .

I did formula with my first born because I was uneducated on how breastfeeding really works and I felt pressured into using formula. With my second I was very determined to breastfeed and we've made it 6 month's which is pretty good considering he was very premature and lots of preemie's don't catch on or moms stress out and underproduce. I think breastfeeding should be at least tried and researched about in the first month but some women have problems or struggles with it and they shouldn't feel like crap by other moms who found breastfeeding to be easy.

@brionie31, if for some reason you cannot breastfeed, talk to the consultant on tips for skin to skin. we tried that after i couldn't breastfeed. bonding doesn't have to be through breast milk.

Have the doctor look to see if baby is lip/ tongue tied. I never thought it would cause problems with feedings until I had to stop with my daughter. She's lip tied and feeding was horrible. Thankfully I'm birthing with a midwife this time around and that's one of the first things she does when baby is born.
