what do I need to do for a birth plan? what do I need in a hospital bag? I know nothing

@mommyrai, my birth plan=having a healthy baby and healthy mom. My nurse said people who have actual birth plans 75% of them end up in c section because they stress too much in following it instead of going with the flow!

@mommyrai, and baby's bag I did: diapers,diaper creams, wipes,pjs, coming home outfit, 5 other outfits, socks, hats, bottles, receiving blanket, thicker blanket, pacifier,

@mommyrai, bib, burp cloth and I think that's it. My bag.. Robe, socks, underwear (full) sports bra, dress to loose comfy dress to come home in, looser shirt and shorts, small shampoo/conditioner, tooth brush,toothpaste, hair ties/headband, and I need to add another outfit or two

@mommyrai, it's all a personal preference but I didn't/am not. The only thing I would research and know is what kind (if any) medicine you want to use. Whether it be the spinal tap, epidural or just IV medications. Because the nurses trying to explain the difference when you're in dire pain.. Is gonna be hard for you and them. Or know you want to try to medicine via IV first and if it gets really bad go to epidural.

check and see what your hospital provides❤ I know mine gives you diapers, wipes, blankets pacifiers, bottles, formula, hats everything they need. Check first because if you can save your stuff that's better. Of course bring whatever bottle you want your baby to get attached to and paci. As for Birth plan no point, it could go the complete opposite just know if you want the shots administered orally, if you want delayed cord clamping, who you want in the room, and skin to skin:) in case everything goes right

@mommyrai, I made a birth plan and only a few things didn't happen either because it wasn't needed or because of the circumstances for example I wanted to hold my baby dirty skin to skin but I couldn't because we both had fevers and he had to be taken away to be checked and started on antibiotics. Even though I wrote mine they asked questions about what I wanted or didn't want and I told them so I didn't bother showing them. I told them I wanted to hold baby right away I couldn't, daddy to cut the cord, no epidural, wanted a mirror to watch my baby be born, no pacifiers, that I didn't mind medical students in the room simple stuff like that. I saved my birth plan from my first for my next baby I didn't change anything. I know that labor is unpredictable and anything could happen so I wasn't worried about everything going right or getting the "perfect" labor I went with the flow and if something changed or didn't happen I was fine at least my baby was here and healthy I was not worried at all. I called my hospital to ask what to pack and they said a few receiving blankets (although they have them there) that's if you don't want your baby in those baby hospital blankets I didn't mind but used one of my own for him to come home in, a coming home outfit with socks a hat and mittens and that was it! I didn't need diapers or wipes since they provided that but call your hospital to be sure.
