My mother in law is saying that I should avoid doing too many ultrasounds because they're harmful…

I don't think so if it was they wouldn't do them

there has been some research done showing that the radiation can potentially be harmful... but, there really hasn't been much research on it.... I wouldn't personally choose to do any unnecessary ultrasounds, but that's just me. find some articles and read up and choose for yourself (:

that's not true girl. I've had about 9/10 now and nothing is wrong. I don't believe they uss radiation they're different than xrays

I think it's more of a generational superstition. Back when our moms were pregnant with us they weren't given ultrasounds like we get today so they feel it's unnecessary. My mom said she had one her whole pregnancy with me and she definitely didn't know what she was having until I popped out lol and that was only 21 years ago :)

I do think that to an extent ultrasounds can be a bit ridiculous, but I think at least one around 10 weeks then 20, then 30 and 35... She is studying to be a midwife, and she likes things to be more natural. Which I understand to a degree. I love her to pieces, in no way do I want to sound negative towards her.

I only got two one to confirm the pregnancy the second to find out boy or girl I won't get another one. It's only if there is a concern as my obgyn told me last time I saw her last week

they used to be but since they have updated technology everything is fine. they used to be able to hear the heartbeat on the ultrasounds but they said it was to much for the baby so they changed everything.
