tomorrow I have my 39 week appt and she offered to strip my membranes. I'm still unsure of if I want her to do it. any mommies have good or bad experiences with having their membranes stripped ? ftm here. I'm going to do what my SO and Dr and I think is best for baby and I but I would really like some input from you ladies. thanks in advance !

some people say it's painful others say it's not painful just uncomfortable. I'm a FTM too and will probably be in the same situation as you as of next week, so I'm curious about this too

@sarahmariemommy2be, everything I've read is that its "uncomfortable" but not necessarily painful. I just don't know how successful it is bc online it said it only works to start labor in about 24 percent of women @emkasting

I had mine stripped 3 times. The first time it was painful, because she didn't let me know what she was doing, silly woman! It's really just uncomfortable. She felt my sons head every time. But it didn't work. The cord was wrapped around his neck and I didn't go into labor on my own at all... 😞

I had it done with my oldest and it felt like mild cramping and I had my son about 18 hrs later all natural

@bri28, see this is why it worries me bc it may work and it may not ! we think they have my due date wrong so I think I'm past 39 weeks and he's been measuring 3 weeks ahead the entire pregnancy so I really wanna get things going before the placenta runs out of nutrients and he is in danger :( @mom_004

@mamabearluken, yea, it may or may not. But won't hurt to give it a try. I'd have them do it and see where it goes from there :)

Good thing is tho if it doesn't help it won't hurt you either, so I'd give it a try and if you are concerned about that, maybe talk to your dr about being induced

My dr stripped mine at my appointment this afternoon and so far nothing!! I feel absolutely the same. I had a little cramping about an hour later but it stopped and now everything is the same as before.
