I heard when your washing your baby after they're first born your not supposed to wet the umbilical cord or submerge them in water because it can make the healing process longer & make it easier for it to get infected is that true ?

Yes. Atleast that's what my son's pediatrician told me. I didn't bathe him in the tub til it fell off. I only sponge bathed

I was told to just take a cloth wet it and clean the baby with that until the umbilical cord comes out. Takes 1-3weeks to fall off.
