If you smoke pot for enjoyment more so than for anxiety reasons, i say give breastfeeding a shot. The bond you will build and the pleasure knowing that your baby is getting the best might really outweigh the effects of weed. I've been there. Give it a try. Or at least the first few weeks of life before the baby is vaccinated against diseases you should breastfeed.
That's the problem. There havent been enough studies to prove or disprove any theories about it. That in itself is a risk mama.
Sure, we see weed helping many people around the world. However, in most cases this is because certain chemicals are drawn out of it and only certain strains are used. Think of your baby and what's most important. Providing him or her with the best possible food source you can provide, or thinking of yourself and just wanting to get high?
Thanks for your advice, your right... Baby comes first and I've already been sober for way too many months might as well be sober a couple more months and just do it when I'm not putting the baby at risk. Thank you
you can smoke pot for the rest of your life... your baby is only going to be a baby for "X" amount of time. whether you breastfeed for 6 weeks, 6 days, 6 months or 2 years.. it's ultimately best for baby but once you're done with breastfeeding you're done and can do as you please. in my opinion it's worth waiting and at least trying.

Well I want to give him time to get as much breast milk as I can but I'm selfish and I want to smoke again. We're going on vacation in September and I decided that when we get back that'll be my reward. I quit in September so it'll be a year for me.

I will give it a try.. But how harmful could it be? Would it put my baby at risk?

I wish you the best no matter your choice.

I'm on the same boat. I've decided to wait till September to smoke again. By then my LO will be 5 months.

@valrocks, it sucks 😐 what is your reason to smoke again when your baby's 5 months? What's your plan?
