Unless my baby is breached I definitely want to have a vaginal birth , in my opinion it's safer than a c-section and I don't want to be in a hospital that is going to talk me into getting a c-section because I'm taking too long to deliver

Unless you need it because your baby is breached I wouldn't get one that's major surgery and you & your baby don't even get a skin to skin moment because they have to sew you back up @mimiz

@egates, you can request them to place your baby on your chest as soon as the baby comes out. This is your personal opinion and I'm not trying to correct you just informing you, you can do skin to skin.

Yes if there is no complications with your child but let's say your baby is a premie then you can't @rainbowbaby2015

I've never heard of that. Maybe its your hospital. I just know at my hospital you can do skin to skin weather the baby is premie or not. That's weird.

they won't do it immediately @rainbowbaby2015 my mom works on l&d and they have to check the baby first before they hand him/her over to the mother. Even when you get a c section the doctors will bring your baby up to your face so you can see it but they won't let you hold him until you are seen up and the effects of the anesthesia wears off.
also you can still have a vaginal delivery if the baby is breach. there is just more caution used. my brother was breach and my mom had a home birth with him.

my only opinion to you is labor at home as long as possible so they don't have the time to try and get you to have a c section being your "laboring to long" . Skin to skin is only done at c sections when your child is completely healthy and don't need to be monitored. Most c section babies have to be monitored right after due to fluid still in the lungs because it wasn't pushed out naturally like in a vaginal birth.

if you do have problems delivering in a timely manner, there is more of a risk that your baby will have their first bowel movement while in the womb (which can cause an infection and potentially kill your child). that's why some hospitals will do an emergency c section if you aren't progressing fast enough
