What are your views on whooping your child's ass?

Yup . I got spanked . My son gets spankins often . He's almost 7 & so damn hard headed I wonder if I am beating his ass enough lmao

@xoxoalexusss, I did too. my parents spared no expenses on my ass..and I knew how to act in public and I'm well mannered towards adults. I'm sure you're doing a good job. he's still young. @j.d-rose girl yes my friend has the baddest little boy, and can't whoop him cause he's "cute". he cuts up everywhere and then she tries to say other people's children are bad. I don't care how cute, cuddly, or charming my daughter is I have a feeling my patients will run short and I'll be whooping her ass 😂😂

I'm not laying a hand on my daughter. Growing up I got my ass whooped bad. Did nothing but make me angry. My husband got beat by his mom, so we both decided to raise our child differently.

I'll do fine, I'm a registered behavior Tech and psychology major. I know what I'm doing. Discipline doesn't have to be hitting your children. Lots of other ways to discipline.

To me sometimes it's not even about discipline but learning. you can tell a kids to not run in the street 100 times but if they run in the street and you swat them and tell them no, then they will correlate that if I run in the street then I will get a whoopin and I don't like that. Little kids don't understand that running in the street is dangerous

@dreab, I totally agree. when there's a consequence for an action that is obviously unacceptable, children will react differently or be very obedient. a child doesn't want to be "whooped" or spanked so they'll learn to correct their actions simply to avoid it. I don't think EVERYTHING deserves a whoopin. BC time out or whatever is a great consequence for something light duty...but nothing bring your point across like a good ol ass whoopin

Exactly! Shoot I got them time and time again growing up and I'm thankful for it bc it made me well mannered and disciplined. My children Lord willing will be the same.

@klarrissab, my brother said the same thing. Lol then his second child is out of line and now he gives her pops and she has gained more discipline. I believe that it's at the discretion of the parent. You do what works for you.

@ynm1990, yeah parents are free to raise their kids however they want. I won't hit my child regardless of what others have said or chose to do with theirs. I work as a behavior therapist, I think I'm qualified to be able to make that decision and use options other than hitting.
